Getting ready to cook with the Winter Share! A post from Chef Josh.

OAF’s annual Pick Your Own Day is this Saturday! This means the holidays are around the corner and that the winter share is about to begin.


I just signed up this week for my winter share and doubled up on the mushrooms!! If you are not taking advantage of the mushrooms, you are missing out! Just this week I used my mushrooms on a home-made pizza with sauteed red onions. So, get the mushrooms. You won’t regret it!!

The things I am looking forward to with the winter share are the wonderful salads with arugula, spinach, lettuce mix and head lettuce. I will make soups with the winter squash and can’t wait for the stir fry with the Asian vegetables that include bok choy, tat soi, sprouting broccoli. The cabbages I love to braise and serve with mustard and sausages. The radicchio is awesome with sauteed mushrooms and garlic!!! The kale and collards I will add to salads or sauté with olive oil and garlic. Sweet potato mash and cauliflower mash are also favorites in my house!!! Or take the kale & sweet potato and make an awesome Caesar salad!!
