Introducing the newest member to the One Acre Farm team. Sophia will be taking on the role of Farm Operations Manager and will be the point of contact for anything "CSA!" Below is a lovely note from Sophia introducing herself to the community. Welcome, Sophia!
Hi One Acre Farm CSA, my name is Sophia! I am excited to be joining the One Acre Farm team this fall as the Farm Operations Manager position. I have been living and working in the Northern Virginia area working on small-scale farms for the past 3.5 years. I spent two years at The Farm at Sunnyside where I managed the wholesale program and helped to pivot the business to an online, pre-order model during the first year of COVID. Following that I switched to goats and cheese-making at George’s Mill Farm – make sure to go visit the baby goats in the spring, they’re the cutest!
I have a great love for food and cooking, something I attribute greatly to growing up in Lancaster, PA surrounded by great local food and family who like to cook. I spend a lot of my free time on various food projects, from elaborate desserts to preserving the season’s bounty into jars and my ever-shrinking freezer space. I also love being outside, for a nice hike or just to sit and enjoy a meal in the fresh air.
I’m excited to build upon my management experience in this new role and get to know you all! I love curating shares and nerding out about all the possible dishes and meals you could make with that week’s vegetables. I’m thrilled to be here – see you soon!
