Shishito Peppers - A Farmer's Favorite

One Acre Farm

Several years ago while working at a neighbor's farm, Charlotte, One Acre Farm's Membership Coordinator, was picking peppers with the wise farmer of the farm.

She showed Charlotte the Shishito pepper and described the recipe for turning it into magic. This little wrinkly pepper is now Charlotte's absolute favorite summer veggie, mostly because these peppers are great vectors for SALT.

Shishito peppers can probably be prepared a myriad of ways, however, there might not be any way better than throwing them in the hot oven, tossed with olive oil and lots of salt. To store shishitos, please see end of post.

It's like eating fries that are healthy.

You can accompany the blistered shishito peppers with an aioli. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack.

Here's a recipe to wow yourself and your neighbors: https://cookieandkate.com/blistered-shishito-peppers-recipe/

To properly store your magic peppers, take out of biobag and store in a plastic bag with holes or with the top of the bag open, in your fridge. If you have a chiller drawer, that's even better. Do not wash until ready to prepare.
